We are pleased to offer this 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback. This Fastback was restored to a good driver standard in 2008 and is finished in correct-to-the-trim-tag code 5 Twilight Turquoise – a rare and striking color. It has been in the same family for decades and was in good condition before the restoration.
Power comes from a C-code 2-barrel 289 cubic inch V8 mated to an automatic transmission; it is optioned with power steering. The restoration consisted of a complete repaint in the correct color, new interior, rebuilt engine with a mild cam and rebuilt C4 transmission. Recent work has included a new fuel pump, re-manufactured carburetor, tune up and Pertronix electronic ignition. It runs and drives well and makes surprisingly good power. 14-inch rally wheels are wearing whitewall tires.
The older restoration is holding up well overall – body gaps are good, the doors close nicely and the underside is clean and tidy with no evidence of prior rust repair. The paint has a nice shine but there are multiple small imperfections throughout – we would describe it as a “five footer.” The interior is in nice condition with good upholstery, door panels and dash; the headliner has a split in it. This Fastback is ready to be enjoyed and is a nice departure from the usual color offerings.
